P. 9

President Ed Schulz joined the Rotary Club of Plymouth in 1978. Past president.
Don Sutherland (Ed's senior partner at the time), proposed him for membership
with a classification of CPA-Taxes. He has attended Rotary perfectly for more than
        ten years.

Coming of age in nearby Livonia, Ed graduated from the original Bentley High
School. "Bulldog'' Schulz no doubt recalls vividly his years of rivalry with the
nearby Plymouth "Rocks.·· Following high school, our new president earned
degrees from both Schoolcraft College and Eastern Michigan University, whereupon
he commenced his career in accounting.

Interestingly, President Ed began to hone his accounting skills while serving in the
military during the Vietnam years. The 5th Army, Armor Desert Training Center
in the Mojave Desert, benefited from G.l. Schulz's skills. Given the large local
population of two particular arachnids, no doubt Ed benefited from his skill in
keeping tabs on the native scorpion and tarantula denizens.

Since joining the public accounting firm of Sutherland & Yoe in 1970, Ed, a
practicing certified public accountant. has been active in a variety of professional
endeavors and currently serves as vice chairman of the Accounting and Auditing
Committee of the Michigan Association of CPA' s. His client list reads like a who's
        who of Plymouth.

Twenty-five years ago, Ed's high school sweetheart, Diane, accepted his marriage
proposal; and, along with their son, Paul. they keep house together in Plymouth
Township. Ed enjoys travel, skiing, sailing, and stamp collecting, all of which he
squeezes in between his Rotary commitments and business activities. On at least
a couple of occasions he has combined travel with sailing. He and a few other
Rotarians have helped crew sloops in such exotic far off locales as the Caribbean.

Our new president has chaired various committees within the Club, including the
BBQ Committee. and he served a term as Foundation President as well. In 1984,
Bill Morrison, Jr, introduced Ed into the world of service to our Rotary District
6400. Since then, Ed has served as the District Governor's area representative and
as the district treasurer. He is now completing his tenth year on the District Fund
Committee and will serve again as district treasurer under incoming Governor Fred
        Sorrell.

President Ed challenges all club members to make 1994-95 the best year yet for
Plymouth Rotary. He looks forward to leading the Club to new heights. His theme,
"Be a Friend - Share Rotary," will encourage us all to do just that.
