Non - Profit & Profit Sport Structures
In this opinionated essay of mine I will be exploiting the characteristics of sport structures that are
based on non-profit and those that are for-profit. This essay will provide examples of the two
structures and cover the similarities and differences as well as the advantages and challenges that
these sporting structures may face. When we talk about sport structures and sporting bodies, we
generally refer to sport clubs and sport businesses that operate in economic conditions. A non-profit
sporting structure is an organisation that tries to combine its passion for sports by reaching out to the
community for their personal development. These non-profit organizations may use sports in trying
to support an important cause or use it to reach out to groups of people who are unable or live-in
areas where they can’t participate in sport due to lack of facilities or other factors. These organizations
run without the primary aim to make a profit. A profit sport structure is any business entity that
operates with the primary aim to generate profit from operating in regular forms with aim to
maximise the wealth of the owners of the business.
There are many characteristics of a non-profit sport structure but for people and investors to look out
for the ones that are seen as high performing there are a few factors that would need to stand out from
their side. Growth would be one of the main characteristics that would need to be portrayed from a
performing structure, just like any business the best nonprofits are the ones who are growing, creating
and developing on social impacts would see them as being very successful. For many people there
would be nothing better than being part of a non-profit structure that is seen as being high
performing and from that it creates joy among the workers or volunteers. Having a strong business
plan that is concise and comprehensive helps these structures to stand out from the rest. The business
plans for these structures should be written in strong detail with the structure’s goals, key
performance indicators or KPI’s, revenue strategies and a three-to-five-year financial projection of
what they aim to make. The last one is good relationships. If a structure aims to be on of the best
nonprofits it has to focus on cultivating relationships with current and future investors and to not,
simply appeal for any money. These structures need to actively and regularly share updates on
outcomes and explain how certain investments have significantly improved their operations and have
increased the impact of their nonprofit sport structure.
If a profit sport structure wants the ability to grow their profit share there are certain characteristics
that are required in order for them to do so. These characteristics are not just for sport structures but
for all organizations that wish to make a profit. All high-profit sport structures and businesses know
exactly what is important and what is not. Having clear objectives and goals can help a business
determine what they not going to do just as much as what they know they are and have to do. It is
important for for-profit structures to get close to their clients and customers and build strong
relationships with them. This is where their leadership teams show their strengths and devote serious
times to organise meetings, observe their customers and communicate with them. Risk taking and not
being afraid to fail will prove most vital in the long run of the organisation, it will not only show
growth but will aid in improving the profit of the sport structure. One of the last characteristics for
these types of structures will be organisation. A high profit structure will make sure they keep their
way of working as simple as possible and always stay on the side o simplicity in order not to
complicate things too much.
