BLACK BELT CANDIDATE ORIENTATION

Black Belt Candidates are high red belts with 2 stripes. We should schedule this orientation 9
weeks before Black Belt testing.

Pre-testing Affairs

1. Decision: Becoming a black belt is a big decision. Students and their families have until
the first preparation class, which will be a week from now, to decide whether they want to
get their black belt this testing.
2. Speech: If you do decide to commit to getting your balck belt this testing, now is the time
to start writing your speech. Your first speech draft is due on the first preparation class.
3. Uniform Fitting: Before the first preparation class, we need to measure for uniform sizes.
Talk to the manager to schedule a time for your fitting.

Timeline

1. Preparation Classes: For the first 4 weeks, we will be doing preparation classes on

Saturdays from 1:35-2:35pm for candidates only . During these classes, students will be
choosing individual forms, and they will learn their board breaking routines.

2. Black Belt Bootcamp: For the next 3 weeks, we will have bootcamp with all other black
belts. During bootcamp, candidates will spar with black belts, practice forms, and work

on their board breaking skills and routines.

3. Candidate Rehearsal: The candidate rehearsal is the night before Black Belt Testing. It is

the last rehearsal and opportunity to practice before

About the Black Belt

1. Kukkiwon: Our dojang is World Taekwondo affiliated, and your masters are certified WT
master-instructors, who are able to certify you through the Kukkiwon Black Belt system.
Kukkiwon is the Taekwondo center of the world placed in Seoul, South Korea.
2. Forms: There are 2 forms that must be turned in by the 2nd preparation class. The first
one is from Kukkiwon, and it is the application for a Kukkiwon Black Belt. The second
form is the Black Belt Oath, which outlines the fundamentals of being a Black Belt.

Fee

The whole fee is a total of $600, which includes the Black Belt, the Adidas Black Belt Uniform
that comes with your name embroidered and the official American Tigers logo, a Kukkiwon
Black Belt certificate, and 8 weeks of extra training including the testing ceremony. It is due in
full by the 2nd preparation class.
