SESSION 7 - Applying your Superpowers
TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
SESSION PLANNING
Platform: Zoom video conferencing
Zoom link: Zoom link should be provided to all mentors, participants and guests
prior to the session.
Mentors: Suitably trained mentors should be fully briefed on their role, expectations,
and session content.
Session host: An appropriately skilled mentor, or other, should be assigned the role
of hosting the session.
Participants: Participants should be fully briefed on session times, and expectations.
IT support: Media/IT support should be available during the session to deal with
conferencing and IT issues.
Session Duration: 90 minutes
SESSION PROGRESSION
Building on the Applying your Superpowers theme in sessions 5 and 6, this week participants and mentors will explore
how taking full responsibility for what happens in their life, can provide them with a forward looking focus, and sense of
personal leadership, that can lay the foundations for ultimate success.
SESSION SUMMARY
The session will start in the live room with the participants and mentors coming together.
1. MAIN GROUP SESSION 1 (Duration: 10mins)
Revisit previous session – Once all the participants enter the room, the host revisits the last session by asking each
participant and mentor about the ways in which they displayed self-confidence, or felt self-doubt in the past week.
TAKING RESPONSIBILITY (Duration: 15 mins)
Have the group watch the WILL SMITH - FAULT vs RESPONSIBILITY video (See: RESOURCES on Page 68).
After the video, the host runs a group discussion, asking each member of the group what they thought about the video.
2. BREAKOUT SESSION (Duration: 45mins)
Participants and mentors move to their breakout groups.
In this session, mentors and participants explore the idea of taking responsibility for their own life and how, by doing so, is
a form of personal leadership.
