      WHAT DOES THE HARLEM LIVE PROGRAM COST PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS?

      The HARLEM LIVE initiative is FREE OF CHARGE TO SCHOOLS.


      The producers of this program will seek funding, in partnership with participating schools, from
      local government and non-government grants and other financial opportunities.


     WHAT DOES STUDENT TRAINING INVOLVE?

     Student training Involves practical learning about …
     •       Media roles in radio production
     •       Radio hosting skills
     •       Interview skills
     •       Scripting and recording voiceovers
     •       Scripting questions for interviews
     •       How to market and promote your radio show/station
     •       How to source sponsors for your radio program
     •       Broadcast codes of behaviour.

     Students will be trained in groups online via a series of webinars and Zoom sessions and
     in-person workshops.

     Student training is also supported by online teacher and students modules and videos that are
     mapped against relevant curriculum frameworks.



     HOW LONG WILL HARLEM LIVE BROADCAST FOR?

     HARLEM LIVE will broadcast for up to 5 days on LIVE FM in 2023.


     Broadcast dates are yet to be confirmed.


     DO SCHOOLS NEED BROADCAST OR AUDIO EQUIPMENT TO BE INVOLVED?

     No. The producers of this program will be responsibile for all the technical elements of the
     broadcast.

     Schools are encouraged however to produce their own pre-recorded content where possible
     to give their students full ownership of their modern media experience.



     WILL STUDENT SHOWS BE BROADCAST LIVE?

     The capacity of each participating school will determine how much content is broadcast live or
     pre-recorded live. Once schools are confirmed, further discussions will be held to discuss the
     type of broadcast they will produce.
