SHOW /SEGMENT S - THE 4W’S
It is important that host presenters are consistent and professional across the station when
introducing and ending their show, and coming in and out of breaks.
If you are hosting a live radio show, you need to restate the 4 W’s at the start and end of
every show, and segment, so that listeners are fully informed.
The 4 W’s are...
1. WHAT station they are listening to…
2. WHO (person/s) are they listening to…
3. WHICH show they are listening to…
4. WHERE is the show being broadcast from …
EX AMPLE - S T AR T OF THE SHOW
Here is an example of the 4W’s being used to start a radio show, and introduce the first guest.
1. ‘Welcome everyone - broadcasting across Australia, and across the world, this is LIVE FM
(WHAT station)
2. Live from the CATHOLIC LEADERSHIP CENTRE IN MELBOURNE
(WHERE is the show being broadcast from)
3. You’re listening to the SACRED HEART PRIMARY SCHOOL FITZROY SHOW
(WHICH show are they listening to)
