Music Festival 2023
The Dream Big Youth Music Festival 2023 celebrated the wonderful musical
achievements of 27 schools and nearly 200 young people, from 8-20 years old
at The Bowery Theatre, St Albans on Septempter 14, R U OK? Day, and lives-
treamed at www.dreambigyouthmusicfestival.com.
The Dream Big Youth Music Festival 2023 is a program that deeply
engages young people in the outer western Melbourne region in the
creation and performance of original music, empowering them to express
positive mental health attitudes and ideas to their peers, families
and community.
In collaboration with committed classroom, music and well-being teachers,
inspiring professional Dream Big artists teach skills and facilitate young
people to discover and develop their creative voice.
Artists discuss themes around dealing with challenging feelings, help-giving
and help-seeking, and encourage young people to explore and articulate their
ideas through artistic expression, using methods including: singing,
instrumental music, dance, music video, visual art, animation and puppetry.
Participants do not need any prior musical experience as the artists
skilfully shape the creative inputs so that all voices are included, heard and
supported to recognise that they have made a contribution to the
collaborative work.
The results are both profoundly moving and breathtaking in their impact.
