INTER VIEWING A GUES T AS P AR T
OF A PANEL 5
Here are six commercial radio tips for when you are interviewing a guest as part of a panel…
1. Prior to the interview, discuss with the panel what topics you are going to address
with your guest.
2. Where possible, alternate questions between panel members.
3. Take the opportunity to ask your guest an unscripted follow-up question based on
their response to your question.
4. Make sure you don’t ask the same, or similar question, that another panel member has
asked.
5. Make sure the panel explores each topic fully before moving to the next topic with the
guest.
6. Use hand signals to make sure panel members do not talk over each other.
