The VITA/TCE site at the Durant Public Library is coordinated by Pat Tonubbee and staffed by volunteers from the community including John Massey School of Business accounting students who want to not only learn more about tax and customer service but also make a
difference in our community.
Students are required to attain IRS Certification in Volunteer Standards of Conduct, Intake/Interview and Quality Review, Basic Exam, and Advanced Exam before they can volunteer as well as participate in five days of
training conducted by the Oklahoma AARP volunteer chapter.
Jaycee Angello and Tracie Gardner volunteered for the 2021 tax season as tax preparers and counselors. Balie Boone volunteered for her second year of VITA service for the 2021 tax season as a counselor, preparer, and quality reviewer. Dr. Rhonda Richards completed her fourth year of volunteer service at VITA as a counselor, preparer, quality reviewer, and co-site coordinator and
led training for one session for the State of Oklahoma AARP chapter.
