Boards can use the checkup to identify areas for improvement, monitor and record their governance journey.
How to use the checkup
The checkup has five sections which mirror the five principles in the Scottish Governance Code. Each section lists the key
ways to demonstrate and implement each of the five principles and suggests how you can evidence the organisations
good governance.
At the end of the checkup, there is space to identify and prioritise areas for improvement, assigning responsibility and
timeline for achievement.
The checkup can be used as the subject of a whole meeting, in sections throughout the year, or as part of a board away
day to note progress, actions and points for continuous improvement.
