of the UEFA Europa League (previously known as the UEFA Cup).
EUROPA LEAGUE
Like the Champions League, the Europa League will see a new extended league phase instead of the traditional groups of four this season. A total of 36 clubs will be involved by that point, with each facing eight randomly drawn opponents. Unlike previous years, there will be no transfers from the Champions League after the qualifying rounds. So, there is no chance for a relatively good top-tier side who finished third in their group in that competition
to go all the way in this one. There have actually been relatively few teams who have
