The newly named Conference League - dropping the unwieldy Europa prefix - also follows the same route as the two other competitions, in introducing an extended league phase instead of smaller groups this season. The teams participating will only play six games at that stage though, before heading to a possible play-off round and then the round of 16. Olympiakos won the title last season after dropping down from the Europa League group stage, but no such second chances will exist anymore once the qualifying rounds are over.
