When Dr. Jonas Salk discovered the cure for polio, the news was
astonishing. The Polio virus was mainly attacking children, leaving
them weakened or paralyzed, but adults were also victims. President
Franklin D. Roosevelt suffered from it.
Once the trials were completed and the nationwide vaccination pro-
gram was about to begin, Dr. Salk was interviewed by CBS’s Edward R.
