When I take my pictures peoples
reactions are different its a mix
of “thats really cool id love one
of those cameras” or they say
“why do you use polaroids?”
thats the question that started it
all for me, I thought about a lot
of my friends who do
photography on the fetish scene
and I have myself been a model
in fetish shoots and it dawned on
me that you can take a million
photos and choose the best one
in to show that moment but its
lost a lot of magic of it being that
moment, when you take a
polaroid of any kind its the only
one and you only get one chance
to take it theres no do overs, it
draws its strengths from being
uniquely in that moment.
Instant Polaroid and LGBT culture
shares a long and interesting
gratification history, to paraphrase Tom
Bianchi one of my all time
favourite photographers “you
-Jake Rockard wouldn't take dirty photos when
you were gay in the 70s and 80s,
no one would develop them you
put yourself in a lot of danger for
your career and risked
damaging exposure just for
being gay” so instant
photography that processed
itself right before your eyes was
a way for gay men to capture
their lives both socially and
sexually securely, with social
media allowing us to share every
photo we create no matter the
theme we have lost some touch
with the importance of the
relationship we had to instant
photography. I run a fetish porn
studio in Manchester and I often
find myself with some very sexy
men around me I decided why
not start capturing the moment
in homage to the men who had
no alternative than this
fantastic medium of
photography. @Rockbiggs @ryanlowellxxx @mcrdungeonhire
