What do you look for in a moment when
you want to take a photo? I look for a
moment that you might not notice in the
whole picture right away. Maybe that's
a finger twirling a piece of hair by his
ear. Or his hand on your inner thigh.
As a fellow polaroid photographer I find
it weirdly frustrating when people use
instax and call them polaroids haha,
did you choose polaroid over instax for
a reason ? YES. Haha I was just talking
about this the other day. I mean you
have to give it up to Polaroid for
having brand recognition on instant
photography. I guess it's like calling
a tissue a Kleenex.
Does it frustrate you when you hand
someone a freshly taken polaroid and
they shake it instantly? ALSO YES. I
usually don't hand them to people right
away now. I'll flip them face down and
explain.
Who is your favourite photographer?
Hardest question. A few and its ever
changing. I love Linda Simpson. She
took photos of the Queer NYC Nightlife
scene in the 80s, and 90s of her
friends. Her coffee table book The Drag
Explosion is amazing.
What camera do you use to take your
photos? I have 14 Polaroid cameras, but
I mostly use my Polaroid SX-70 Sonar.
We saw you had a show at Studio Lacombe
Congratulations! It must have felt good Instagram:
to see your work on display being able @rudepolaroids
to share your creativity physically, do
you have any other shows coming and do Twitter/X:
you have a dream gallery you’d love to @rudepolaroids
see your work exhibited at? No solo
shows at the moment, but I have some
work in some exhibits in New York this
fall and winter. I'm Planning for
another exhibit next summer and the Rudepolaroids.com
dream would be to have an exhibit here
in New York City.
