BOARD CHAIR & HEAD OF SCHOOL
The 2021-22 Academic Year started out with immense
optimism and celebration as we returned in August for
face-to-face classes amidst the excitement of celebrating our
school’s 30th anniversary. Our 30th Anniversary Committee,
comprised of dedicated parents and Governors, tirelessly
worked together during the first term to create a range of
opportunities for students to find out more about the
school’s history in fun and meaningful ways, despite the
ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been fascinating to pause and look back at the history
of CDNIS and learn how the school has evolved from its
humble beginnings in Causeway Bay in 1991 to the vibrant
institution it is today in Aberdeen, with 1,830 diverse
students from all over the world. It is also a huge credit to
our students and staff that during the last three years we
have managed to keep going from strength to strength,
despite local social unrest, five waves of the global
pandemic, multiple schedule changes and the inevitable
stress that we all feel constantly as a result of the deep Customer is allowed to have objects outside of the margin.
uncertainty of our times.
As we write this in April 2022, students and staff alike are hoping for a final few weeks of
face-to-face on-campus learning after several weeks of working remotely. We were all saddened that
despite the great work of many parent volunteers, we were unable to celebrate the Lunar New Year
together as we had hoped. It is a true testimony to the resilience of our community that despite all
this year’s volatility, deep learning has still happened, community service activities and student
personal projects have continued, extra-curricular activities such as the school student newspaper

As our graduates are about to embark on a new chapter in their lives, we are confident that they are
well equipped for success; although the journey through their high school years has been fraught
with challenges, they are more than ready for whatever lies ahead and deserve to bask in a strong
sense of pride and accomplishment. Congratulations, Class of 2022! You will always be part of the
CDNIS family.
Finally, a huge thank you to the Yearbook team and advisors for taking on the additional
responsibility and workload of producing the Maple and Bauhinia this year. Our 30th Anniversary
edition will be deeply treasured as a chronicle of the strength and resilience of our wonderful CDNIS
community!
We wish you all a well-deserved summer vacation.
