Asmall,round lead weight withnosignofaringim- withstampedfleur-de-lisand
A round weight of about 0.5 ounce A voirdupois.
This is a small, square pan weight with the figure '/, stamped in the centre. It is not certain what unit the half refers to since it is too heavy to be a half ounce of either the Tray or Avoirdupois.
A square pan weight with the figure III stamped in the centre.
This type of lead object is often mis-identified as a Stamp, the assumption being that the rod-shaped part is a handle and the disk-shaped part is the stamp. It is, in fact, lhe lead core to an iron, ring-topped weight, d,e iron having complelely corroded away, leaving just the lead part. This can be seen where the curved hole in the lead disk would have taken the iron ring. The '+' in thecentre is presumably lite Roman numeral 'X' referring to len pont. The fleur-de- lis stamps are commonly found on weighls and may be eilhera proof mark that the weight is accurate or a mark in- dicating that the weighl is Avoirdupois.
