 Explanatory notes 1660-70:
According to the letter of 29.4.1664 from the Heren 17 to Batavia, the 1,200,000 fixed before was to be supplemented by another 400,000. But in view of the wartime conditions it is unlikely that this extra money was sent. According to the res. of 2.11.1665 only 400,000 of the 1,200,000 was dispatched. The remainder was included in the new resolution of 2,000,000. To avoid double counting 800,000 will have to be substracted from the amounts mentioned above. In the succeeding years dispatch could not take place in conformity with the decisions either: in 1667 there were arrears of fl 728,986. These arrears were made up in 1668-69 however. In the resolutions and letters of the Heren 17 little mention is made of types of specie. For 1662 Batavia asked for the first time in years for gold, 300,000, preferably in ducats. In 1663 Batavia did indeed receive gold and for 1664 the Heren 17 again mention the dispatch of gold, while in the following years gold was dispatched as well (VOC 13473, Copia verdeelde eis 1662 and 1663; Coolhaas, Generale Missiven III, 453, 465, 616, 669).
1660-61, 1662-63: 1664-65 :
According to the resolution of the Heren 17 of 20.9.1680, fl 6,201 of this amount had not yet been dispatched. Due to the outbreak of war in 1672 arrears in dispatch accumulated in the 1672-73 and 1673-74 seasons. In March 1674 fl 333,003 of what was shared out between the chambers in 1672 was still to be sent. Fl 15,000 of what was sent in 1674-75 was destined for the Cape of Good Hope.
