Page 2 - Wine Importers Wholesale List
P. 2
Billy Bell Birse-Stewart, Managing Director, Wine Importers.
Welcome to our new look price list which is entirely interactive.
After much research and discussion, we now understand that
our customers really want easy access to pricing and product
information at a touch of a button.
We have therefore developed an electronic list with a simple
search facility to find the product you are after, quickly and
without page flicking.
Each Agency House we represent also has a corresponding information section and simply by clicking on
a wine, you will immediately be taken to that informative page.
This new list will take effect on Monday 26 th February 2018 and we are pleased to announce that in
general we have managed to keep most prices close to or in line with inflation and many key items
remain the same as last year.
The main areas that were affected by severe drought around the Mediterranean saw grape production
reduced by around 25% due to lack of water. This has caused severe issues for volume wines from
these areas – possibly just for this year and forced prices up to balance the low harvest.
The other areas affected by severe weather were the Northern French vineyards where an ice cold blast
of Arctic frost hit them in the middle of April, killing vine buds by around 30%. Bordeaux was also
affected but we won’t experience the knock on effect on their pricing in the immediate future.
Chile, Australia, New Zealand and South America have seen good stability in last year’s harvest and offer
fantastic value for money now compared to some traditional European sources.
We are pleased to introduce a new range from Chile – Loma Negra from the famous house of Luis
Felipe Edwards. With a fighting priced Pinot Grigio and Malbec, along with excellent premium
varietals, this range offers a wide appeal.
This year we have extended our Burgundy range and added in some interesting producers from
Fixin, Marsannay, Pernand Vergelesses and Maranges.
We have sourced some good value, interesting single varietals such as Corvina, Garganega and Furmint
to add talking points on wine lists. There is also a fresh Vinho Verde added to accompany our home
grown seafoods. Please look out for the return of an old favourite - Monte Haro Estate Rioja from
Paternina as a great quality to price offering. Newly introduced Estate Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc
from Giesen NZ are excellent wines and bound to impress at the price.
Finally we are pleased to welcome the full range of Edinburgh Gin products to our list.
With Kindest Regards and thanks for your continued support.
