Dear Mr. Lukemire,
I am writing to thank the ScottsMiracle-Gro Company for their support of Morehouse School of
Medicine. Your support provided scholarship funds I received to aid in the pursuit of my medical
career. Your contribution has not only helped lighten the financial load of my academic fees but has
imparted a sense of support and encouragement in knowing that as a minority woman pursuing a
demanding career, I am not alone and that there are foundations and organizations advocating for
my success.
My full name is Ebunoluwa Dada, I am a first-generation Nigerian American, an MD2 student at
Morehouse School of Medicine, and the first personal in my family to pursue a career in medicine.
My passion for medicine stems from many experiences, but a defining experience that has shaped
me as a person and as a future provider is when my two cousins got in a massive car wreck that
resulted in one of them undergoing a below the knee-amputation.
Eventually, it took years of physical therapy, several corrective procedures, and numerous
prosthetics to get her running again. But through the help of her surgical team and the support of
our family, she is not only running but is now a USA Paralympian and 100m national champion. My
cousin’s accident is one of many, but her recovery is one of the few, and it is my goal to aid in the
healing process of patients who have suffered from the trauma of losing a limb or other
musculoskeletal conditions. I aspire to be an orthopedic surgeon and pursue research that aids in
the advancement of amputation surgery and prosthetics; and through your donation, I can do just
that. Again, I am overwhelmingly grateful for your contribution to my academic success and I wish
you all the best.
Sincerely,
Ebun Dada
