PROFILE NARRATIVE
A 6-foot, 175 lb. senior from Carrollton, GA, Johns burst on the scene for the Carroll-
ton Trojans in 2020. Johns, from his safety position has helped lead the Trojans to an 8-2
overall record (as of 12-5-20), and the Class 6A Region 5 Championship. For the season,
Johns ranks among the state leaders (T-3) in interceptions with eight, including three
interceptions returned for touchdowns on the year (could have been have four INTs re-
turned for TDs if not for a penalty on one of his INTs to nullify his return for a touchdown).
Johns’ top highlight of the season was a game-changing interception against rival
Rome, where he intercepted a Wolves quarterback Caleb Ellard pass as Rome was
threatening to take the lead late in the first half. Johns’ interception came on the 9-yard
line, and he proceeded to race 91 yards for a touchdown to give the Trojans a 20-12
lead with 11 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Later in the season, Carrollton’s
victory over Rome broke the tie for the No. 1 seed into the GHSA state playoffs for Class
6A, Region 5.
In the first two rounds of the 2020 GHSA playoffs against Winder-Barrow
and Sprayberry, Johns has two interceptions in each game, including one
interception returned for a touchdown against Winder-Barrow. Carrollton
hosts Valdosta in the third round of the 6A playoffs on December 11.
In addition to his achievements on the gridiron, Johns has also shined
on the track for Carrollton as a state meet qualifier in the 300m hurdles and
as a member of the 400m relay team, running the anchor leg on the relay.
Johns has excelled in the classroom, and the senior currently has a 3.6
Hope eligible grade point average.
