                      Dear Medical Association of Atlanta,

Please allow me to say thank you to the Medical Association of Atlanta for your generous scholarship
gift. Words cannot describe how truly blessed and honored I was when I learned that I was selected to be
a recipient of your organization’s scholarship. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your
support of Morehouse School of Medicine.

During my time in medical school, I was able to volunteer in the community at the annual Community
Health and Men’s Promotion Summit, which is a program that provides a broad range of health
information and screening services to adult men of the metro-Atlanta area. Their initiative focuses on the
importance of men addressing their health and becoming more educated about overall healthier lifestyles.
This opportunity allowed me to realize my aspiration to work with youth in a more preventative focus in
                      the area of men’s health.

I am a Georgia native and I completed my Bachelor’s in Biology at Clayton State University. After
graduating in 2018, I plan on working in an underserved community. I truly believe that Morehouse
School of Medicine helped me accomplish this because the mission is to diversify medicine and address
primary healthcare needs with an emphasis on the underserved in urban and rural areas. As a
nontraditional student and having been on my own financially for a few years, the decision to quit work
and return to school to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor was a difficult one. It has meant many
sacrifices for me, even though I know ultimately my career and personal satisfaction will be much greater.
Being a recipient of this scholarship only makes it more gratifying to know I will be able to use this
scholarship to one day pay it forward. One day, I will be able to help others achieve their goals just like
you have helped me, and for that I am the most grateful.

Thank you again for your generosity and assistance. By awarding me the Medical Association of Atlanta
scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus on the most important
aspect of school, learning. Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the
                      community.

                      Sincerely,

                      Candace Nolton Egerton
