The Campaign for MSM

        IMPACT – The World Needs What We Do Best

            For more than four decades, MSM has educated
        and graduated the healthcare learners and leaders
        our nation needs most. The majority serve in
        primary care and more than half practice in
        underserved communities. This work has not gone
        unnoticed; a national study twice named MSM
        as the top medical school for fulfilling the social
        mission of medical education.
            Today, we are:
          • Expanding the number of students enrolled in
        our Master’s, PhD, and MD programs;
          • Adding new degrees to meet the evolving needs
        of the healthcare workforce;
          •  Revolutionizing care delivery;
          •  Making breakthroughs in research;
          •  Pioneering clinical innovations; and
          • Connecting with the community to make a
        difference.
            To fund all of this progress, growth, and change,
        MSM is undertaking a multi-year, $150-million What We Do Best
        comprehensive campaign called IMPACT: The
        World Needs What We Do Best, which will launch
        in the Spring of 2021.
            The Campaign will be led by Co-Chairs —
        Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UPS
        David Abney and Larry Renfro, Vice Chairman of
        UnitedHealth Group and Founding and Managing
        Partner of Optum Ventures.
            An impressive group of nationally and
        internationally recognized business, political,
        and civic leaders have been assembled to provide
        addtional leadership. The Council includes
        Honorary Chairs Dr. Louis and Mrs. Ginger
        Sullivan, Dr. David Satcher, Ms. Billye Suber Aaron,
        and Ambassador Andrew and Mrs. Carolyn Young.
            MSM also has created five Strategic Councils,
        each focusing on one of the Campaign’s strategic
        initiatives: Clinical Innovation, Community Service,
        Education, Pipeline Programs, and Research
        Excellence.
            The goal of the Campaign is to permanently
        raise the long-term fundraising capacity of the
        school. Investments will fund scholarships, faculty
        research, capital construction, and other projects
        that ensure our students succeed to graduation —
        all while keeping top-of-mind MSM’s mission to
        create and advance healthcare equity.
