I wish + would
We use I wish + would/wouldn't when we want a
person to do something differently. We often use it to
complain or when we are angry.
Sam sends me a lot of emails. It's very annoying. I wish
Sam would send me fewer emails.
My brother doesn't do the washing-up. It makes me angry.
I wish my brother would do the washing-up.
I wish he wouldn't watch TV all evening.
We can also use it when we want something different
to happen in the future.
I wish it would stop raining.
I wish the train would arrive.
We don't use I wish + would to talk about ourselves.
