SOFTBALL PITCHING CIRCLE / HOME PLATE

STEPS TO REBUILD OR RENOVATE YOUR MOUND:
(Tools you will need: tamp, broom, and rake)
1. Excavate to specifications the mound and home plate areas 3 1⁄2” deep – keep side walls vertical. Keep bottom of excavated area as smooth as possible.
2. Place 1⁄2” of sand in bottom of excavated area.
3. Place bricks following perspective in dia-
gram.
4. Place a small amount of bagged clay over
the top of bricks and lightly water. Use a trowel or square-nosed shovel to press the mixture into the cracks between bricks and sidewalls.
5. Let dry, then add moldable bagged mound clay to bring area up to finished grade (typi- cally 1⁄2”) and tamp in tight.
6. Spread infield conditioner over repaired area.
7. PLAY BALL!
