Characteristics
Flowering perennial that grows from a
creeping rhizome.
Stems are leafy, unbranched and hairy. Leaves
are alternate and leaf shape varies from lance
shaped to oval depending on where it occurs on
the stem. Leaves are up to 5 in. long and often
have toothed edges.
Flowers bloom from July through October and
have blue to purplish overlapping petals and
yellow centers.
