MESSAGE

The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines
in Chicago extends its warmest congratulations to the
officers and members of the University of the Philippines
Alumni Association in America (UPAAA) on the occasion
of your virtual Grand Reunion and Convention on 22-24
October 2021, with the theme, ARISE: Pagbangon at
Parangal.

As a fellow alumnus marking 20 years of graduation from
the UP School of Economics, I commend the officers and
members of UPAAA for your efforts to strengthen the
relationship between US-based alumni and our Alma Mater
to achieve the superordinate objectives of academic
excellence and national development.

The Philippine Consulate wishes to acknowledge the participation of the Honorable Maria
Leonor “Leni” G. Robredo, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, who will be
delivering the Keynote Speech, and UP President Danilo L. Concepcion, who will be
delivering the State of the University Address. I wish to acknowledge the organizers
spearheaded by 2021 GRC Chair Ethel G. Rubio for leading this celebration. I also
congratulate the achievers and loyal members who will be honored during the grand reunion.

Even as we are an ocean away from our motherland, may we continue to live out our Alma
Mater’s hymn by reinforcing our passion and commitment to love our country and our
university and to serve our countrymen, in whatever way we can, with dignity and courage.
