SAMAHAN Philippine Dance History—Community Events
Samahan was invited in 1996, to perform at the Northwest
Folklife Festival in Seattle, Washington. The highly successful
tour, involving 35 dancers and musicians, included two perform-
ances at the Seattle Opera House and another at the Mural Am-
phitheater. Since 1996, Samahan had been a featured performer
at the Los Angeles Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture. It
was accepted to the prestigious Touring and Presenting Program
of the CA Arts Council for the 2000-2001 season and, as a re-
sult, was invited to present its repertoire of Philippine dances at
a community college in Orange County.
