Dr. Franca Tolete-Yelcek is a Professor of Surgery at State University of York, Downstate
Medi Center; Chief of Pediatric Surgery, Long Island and Attending Pediatric Surgeon,
Lenox Hill Hospita� York, NY. She is an outstanding mentor and a trailblazer for young women
in general surgery and pediatric surgery in the Philippines and in the world. She was the
first female tenured professor in surgery at the State University of Ne York system.
