The company Dr. Schumacher GmbH was founded in 1978 in Melsungen, 30 km south of Kassel. Due to the professional history of its founder Dr. Hen- ning Schumacher the company is based on more than 30 years of experience in the field of hygiene and disinfection.
Dr. Schumacher started his chemist career in the R&D department of a well-known disinfectant ma- nufacturer in Hamburg. After several years of suc- cessful work in research and development he follo- wed the offer of a big German medical device cor- poration located in the northern part of Hesse. Always keeping his main objective in mind - to pro- tect personnel and patients - he started his own company. This was the only way for him to realize his innovative product ideas the way he wanted to
and to shorten decision-making processes as well as to simplify bureaucratic structures.
At the end of the 90’s he handed the company over to his sons Dierk (chemist) and Jens (pharmacist, MBA) who carry on the company philosophy of their father. The research and development of in- novative products is also an essential basis of the company’s strategy for both sons.
The Dr. Schumacher GmbH is nowadays one of Europe‘s leading providers of the development and manufacturing of hygiene, disinfection and care products for the entire medical field. The family- owned company supplies innovative, unique solu- tions from their headquarters in Malsfeld, Hesse.
