Meet Your Financial Coach
Brian and his wife Betsy have made Virginia their home for the last 25 years. They have 3 daughters of their own and have been blessed through a tragic event to be raising Brian’s 16 year old niece as well. They all love the outdoors and the Blue Ridge Mountains near their home in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Because he wanted to have a direct positive impact, Brian started his career as an elementary school teacher. When he and Betsy started a family, they decided Betsy would stay home. Although he loved teaching, Brian soon realized a teacher’s salary, even with a master’s degree, was not going to afford their family the options and choices he and Betsy wanted for them.
Brian’s struggle was he wanted to make a difference, not just make more money. When a position with a curriculum company whose crusade of changing math education across the country was offered to him, he accepted. Brian thought he finally found his dream career; doing something he believed in, making a huge positive impact on people and providing for his family the way he wanted. Not long after Brian joined the company, the family who owned it sold it. Things changed.
So this was the start of the entrepreneurial journey. Brian and Betsy opened their first business in 2006. From there they built two other businesses. Although not always easy, Brian enjoyed building businesses and providing great service to customers. Great service, but not really great impact.
Brian wasn’t interested in financial services as a business opportunity. He had always had the experience of financial services people talking over his head and pressuring him to buy. But when he sat down with the person who is now his mentor, it was different. Brian loved the education and how simply things could be explained. He was also horrified at how many companies take advantage of trusting and unsuspecting families! He started in the financial services business to fight for families. Over time, Brian exited his other businesses to focus on building a financial solutions business for families.
Brian started his career as a teacher, and in many ways he has returned to teaching. Educating families about finance, empowering them and giving them hope is his new teaching position. He also mentors others interested in getting licensed to work with families. Brian has found his perfect career: doing something he believes in, helping others, making a difference, having a direct positive impact, and providing options for his own family by being in control of his time and income as a business owner.
I wish you much success! If we can serve you in anyway on your financial journey, don’t hesitate to reach out!
To your success!
