GUIDELINES LAUNCHED
Dr. Madise: Guidelines not to favor or punish anyone
Malawi National Council of Sports past immediate Board Chairperson Dr. Sunduzwayo
Madise launched new updated sports association guidelines during the two-day Sports Indaba.
The new guidelines’ emphasis is on registration and a liation. They also focus on governance,
financial management, discipline in sports associations, participation in international activities,
the hosting of international events and welfare and safety of athletes.
According to Dr. Madise, the guidelines will enhance the vision and mission of MNCS and
promote the values of good governance and best practices in sport management and adminis-
tration for the good of sports. In addition, the guidelines will assist National Sport Associations
and other stakeholders in appreciating and understanding standards and conduct that are
expected, respected and valued within the sports sector as well as serve as a deterrent to
unacceptable actions and practices which may be detrimental to sports development
“Honorable Minister, ladies and gentlemen, we, as Council, believe that there is a need to
change things if sport is to develop. This is why the Council has revised sports associations’
management guidelines which will be launched today.
“The guidelines have been put in place not to punish or favor anyone, but to make sure that
there is sanity in sports associations, which can attract potential sponsors to come in and
support sport,’’ explained Dr. Madise.
