Boma: The corporate world should come in and support Malawi Youth Games

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Malawi National Council of Sports Shephord Boma urged
the corporate world in the country to come in and support e orts that government, through
Sports Council, is making to uplift sports in the country.

The sentiments were made on 16th October during the 2022 Institute of Marketers in Malawi
(IMM) Conference in Salima District. The conference was held under the theme ‘Mkumano
                 Wamadolo’

“We, as Council, have introduced the Malawi Youth Games with the aim of revamping sports in
schools which used to be vibrant in the past. Some of reputable athletes from these schools
have represented the country at the highest level and brought glory to this nation. However, we
need your support. Partner with us to sponsor this program because we believe that this is a
product which can add value to your business.

“For so long, there has been an outcry from the sports fraternity and the general public that
poor performances of our athletes and national teams are due to the absence of school sport,
hence the Malawi Youth Games is direct response to the outcry. But, then, we need support
from the private sector to make sure that this program is a success,” explained Boma.

This was not the first time for Sports Council to court the private sector for sponsorship as the
Council also dated the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) during its annual
                 conference in Mangochi in mid-October.
