                        MR. F. B. PERRY. B.Sc.
At the beginning of the year we welcomed to Wynnum High and
Intermediate School as Principal, Mr F. B. Perry, B.Sc. Mr, Perry’s
     appointment followed the transfer of Mr. F. H. R. Cafferky, B.A., A.Ed.,
as Principal of Brisbane State High School.
Mr. Perry came to us rich in experience gained first as an Assistant
Teacher and later as Head Teacher and Principal of many Queensland
Schools. He commenced his teaching career in 1919. While an Assistant
Teacher at the Brisbane Central Technical College he did a pure Science
Course at the University graduating as Bachelor of Science in 1930 with
majors in Physics and Mathematics. After graduating he did part-time
work at the University as a demonstrator in the Physics Department.
At the College he taught Physics in the Engineering Diploma
Course, Sugar Diploma Course and in the Pharmacy Course. From
the College Mr. Perry was transferred as an Assistant to the Gympie
High and Intermediate School. After several years at Gympie he was
sent to Roma High and Intermediate School during the absence of the
then Principal, Mr. E. W. C. Holdaway, on extended leave.
On Mr. Holdaway’s return Mr. Perry started on his tour of Queens
land as Head Teacher and Principal. His first school was Amiens
(Stanthorpe), a one teacher school. Then followed Mt. Isa Mines High
and Childers High. From Childers, Mr. Perry was appointed Principal
of Roma High and Intermediate School, a position he fiilled for eight
years. His next appointment was Principal of Maryborough Boys’
High and Intermediate School and following Maryborough, Principal of
Industrial High School, Brisbane. His next appointment was to
     Wynnum.
It was with a great deal of satisfaction that we learnt of his
appointment and the year that is near approaching its end has more
than fulfilled our expectations and we look forward to many years of
guidance by Mr. Perry. We wish him and Mrs. Perry a long and happy
stay at Wynnum and assure them both of our loyal support.
