Objective: Progress your imagery model, by adding in the physical phase. Time to Spend: 15 mins.
“Environment” relates to the place where the imagery is performed, and it should be as similar as possible to the performance environment. .
Ø Begin your re-centering steps you learned last week and have been practising, Ø Now add your Physical which you learned yesterday,
Ø Now we’ll add in Environment....
Become are of the playing surface? Is it your pitch, an away pitch? Are you wearing your boots, moulds or studs? Is the area hot? Cold? Windy? During September the weather will be nice, warm , some light breeze. Can you feel this? Can you see the grass? What colour is it? Is it cut? Can you smell the grass? Can you become aware of the players around you? Teammates? Opponents? Who is close to you? Where is the goalkeeper? The opposition defensive wall? The referee? You can hear instructions being shouted, orders from the side-line. Can you become aware of the crowd? Is it your crowd or the oppositions? Can you begin to take your focus back to your centre and repeat you’re self- talk? Now take a deep breath and open your eyes.
Task: Practice this technique during a quiet moment at home. Do this in the morning, after your breakfast. When go to training tonight, repeat this in the car before you get out.
Start to think of other times of the day it will be easy for your to practise this. Write the times and locations down here
