The effects of arousal or being “psyched up”can have a positive or negative effect and aon performance. It affects the body both physiologically and psychologically.
The Drive Theory suggests a linear relationship between arousal and performance. The more an individual is aroused the better the performance. The inverted U theory suggests there is an optimum arousal level and if aroused beyond this level or over psyched, then the performance will decline.
