The flipped class
The flipped class is one teaching method that I would like to be used in my Imagined ecosystem. This
teaching method has three segments or stages that are (a) before class (b) in class © after class
Before class
Student are given learning material by the lecturer; the learning material will be in the form of videos.
Student will view the videos together with text books in preparation for the coming lesson.
(this is done at home)
In class
The students together with the lecturer will go through the content using small groups discussions.
Students are allowed to change groups as they seek new information
After class
Learners will check and confirm their understanding through attempting further learning exercises.
(this is done at home)
In this teaching method lecturers prepares videos that students will watch at home. The videos replace
lectures. It then allows students to learn for and by themselves.
This method requires high student engagement and it promotes interaction through the small group
interaction.
The method allows learning to take place at home and in school.
