In Buddhism , water symbolizes life , the purest form of food
and is the particular element in nature which carries everything
together. Water symbolizes purity, clarity and calmness with our
Mind and Body [namarupa]. It reminds us to cleanse our mind
and body of attachment [lobha], aversion [dosa] and delusion
[moha] through the practise of generosity [dana], morality [sila]
and mental cultivation [bhavana] to eventually attain the state of
purity of enlightenment [nibbana].
