3.3 Conviction to Religion
Every person has different reasons for having a religion, which may be spiritual or to fulfil
social requirements, such as family traditions or societal expectations, and seeking spiritual
support or moral guidance. There are also individuals who may not have any specific reasons
for having a religion. While individuals can have different reasons to call a religion as their
religion, the reasons will to some extent reflect their conviction. If their reason is merely to
satisfy societal expectations, their conviction to their religion is superficial. On the other hand,
if a person chooses a religion because of a spiritual reason, his conviction is likely high. His
