The outer region: thin, shows few layers of purplish- brown to dark violet narrow
rectangular cells, give red color with 66% H2SO4 and violet with KOH. The central region: wide,
shows compact pseudo-parenchyma consisting of small, unequal rounded cells with a highly
refractive chitinous walls and contain fixed oil and protein.
