Chris Littlefield
The Cowboy
He works where wind is both rein and guide,
Years in the saddle have toughened his hide.
His sovereign spirit’s never felt a brand,
He’s a gracious tenant of the land.
No telling the rugged ranges he’s sampled,
Memories collected, never to be trampled.
He lives with Mother Nature whisper-close,
This is the laborious life he treasures most.
It’s between earth and sky he feels most at
home,
With fences far flung and room to roam.
It’s with a skillful hand and watchful eye
He preserves traditions from days gone by.
