FILM FUNDING: IS THERE A WAY
TO FINANCE MY FILM?
Film financing is a combination of private and public investments in the
film and television industry. It is considered by many to be an art form, and
can help independent filmmakers tell their stories in a unique way.
Modern film financing has come a long way since the no-budget days of
the original independent film makers like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas,
and John Sayles. With the development of modern film financing
companies, the landscape of the industry has changed significantly. The
goal of these companies is to create an infrastructure that allows
independent filmmakers to raise the funds needed to create their projects.
In the past, raising the funds for a film was an arduous task:
typically, filmmakers had to approach each individual investor
to get them to invest in the project. This was both time-
consuming and expensive. The rise of film funding companies
has changed the game. These companies act as a middleman
between the independent filmmakers and the investors,
streamlining the process and making it easier for filmmakers
to get their projects funded.
