Background
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, known for his
flamboyant performances and
theatricality, was a pioneering figure in
rock music, particularly in the genre
often referred to as shock rock. He is best
known for his hit “I Put a Spell on You,”
which showcased his distinctive vocal
style and dramatic flair. His live
performances often included elaborate
props, such as being carried on stage in a
coffin, which contributed to his
reputation as an innovator in live
entertainment.
The Band’s Formation
The Resurrection of Screamin’ Jay
Hawkins Band is led by Mike Armando,
who was the original guitarist for
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins during the 1970s.
