On September 24, 2023, the Writers Guild of
Hollywood Writers America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion
Reach Tentative Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP)
reached a tentative deal to end the 146-day-
Deal to End Strike: long writers' strike. The strike was the longest in
WGA history, and it had a significant impact on
What's Next? the Hollywood industry.
The tentative deal includes a number of wins
for the WGA, including:
Increased pay for streaming residuals
A new streaming minimum wage
Guaranteed on-the-week jobs for writers
Improved diversity and inclusion measures
The deal is still subject to ratification by the
WGA membership, but if it is approved, it will
bring an end to the strike and allow writers to
return to work.
