“Not literally do I think I’m a
storyteller, but we have stories to
tell. It’s just a reflection
of how you live your life, right? We’re
drawn to things that actually kind of
matter. Music to me, most of the
time, is melancholic but hopeful. I like
it when people are honest, and
you can see the pain or the loss that
they’ve endured. The struggle, the
struggle and story of your life.”
Micha originally was part of a trio
creating drum and bass under the
moniker Black Sun Empire before
beginning Tinlicker as a solo project.
Over the course of time, he
met Jordi in 2014 through mutual
friends evolving Tinlicker into a duo.
I asked Micha for insight into how he
and Jordi came to join forces.
“We decide to just go into the studio
a few times, and within five dates we
wrote four tracks, and we were like,
hmm, this kind of works. Then,
eventually, I was like, maybe
we should become one [group]. It
makes sense, and it’s more fun to do
together than by yourself.”
