BERNIE WALLS
Ben Folds brought his 2024 Paper Airplane Request Tour to the Charleston Music Hall on May
30th and for his fans in attendance, it was a night to remember. While Ben Folds isn't a
performer who runs around the stage or uses flashy lighting to get the crowd engaged, he does
use his piano and voice in unison to create a sound that keeps the audience engaged and
wanting more.
Ben opened the show with "Capable of Anything", a bouncy toe-tapping tune followed by "The
Ascent of Stan", which gives Ben a chance to showcase his piano chops and "Fragile", a song
that pulls at your heart-strings and allows you to feel the song as you're hearing it

During Intermission, many fans knew what to do next and that was to grab a piece of
paper and write a song request, then use that paper to make an airplane that would be
flown on stage once given the go-ahead. Although many airplanes made it to the stage
during the Intermission, there were plenty to fill the air once Ben Folds returned to the stage
and it was quite the sight to see the stage floor covered with paper airplanes. If you're a
Ben Folds fan, make sure you take the chance to see him in all his glory and don't forget to
sharpen your paper airplane-making skills before you go.
