Photograhy and Review by Allison Scavo m p
Deadheads lined up hours before, selling art and
trading pins before being let in the venue. As the set e
started with Shakedown Street I had it in my head
that this was going to be a set from the 60s. If you’re
unfamiliar, Dark Star recreates original shows that
the Grateful Dead performed leaving Deadheads to
guess which specific show it is. I couldn’t have been
more wrong. As the setlist unfurled, it was obvious
the set was from the 80s. Once they played Stella
Blue I actually stopped guessing and started
reflecting, and that’s the power of the Grateful Dead:
they will push you to think about art, yourself, and
the world around you. If you are having a bad time at
a Dead show, it might not be the show that is the
issue.
