A Humble Note

      From the editor,

“People create stories create people; or rather stories create people create stories.”
      ― Chinua Achebe.

The fabric of life is ornamented with such intricate details, whereby it’s not the work of one but plenty, it's the little

additions of the hand-me-downs, the vivacity of the colours and dyes, the simplicity of the pearls, the durability of the
threads woven collectively which makes it a beautiful piece of art; it is a celebration of what the creator had visioned for
humanity, to be gartered with. Regardless of however poetic the process sounds, it’s not perfect. Sometimes the colours
may fail to blend, a bead or two may fall apart, threads may wear off but it's the faith and hope in the creator and his
ways of mending that could turn rags and pieces into something fruitful. Perhaps this is what we bring you this season,
the fruition of our experiences through little pieces of art; breathing testimony of our ups and downs, through our
second edition of the youth magazine, Qavah.

Qavah is borrowed from a Hebrew word / הָו ָק / - /kaw-vaw'/ which is a symbol of waiting in anticipation and hope for
God to act on our behalf. It is the free will to give into God and merely act upon faith, resisting the need to give into
failures and obstacles but rather seek past it. In a more nuanced and broader interpretation, it is the intervention we
make, in the lives that surround us, it is a give and take of learning, and growing with them. The magazine translates
this through a wide range of stories, testimonies, character sketches, photographs, interviews and art.

This magazine was a collective effort of our dear Vicar, Rev. Ansen Cherian and the youth members as a tribute to our
beloved, late, Rev. Anup Mathew. The art of putting a few words together is like brewing wine, as it sits longer, the
essence of it keeps building; this too was a living and breathing legacy that our dear Anup Achen has left us with. It was
his encouragement and love towards the young that has kept us motivated to speak our minds, and hearts; fearlessly yet
in humility in Christ. This magazine is our loving ode to keep his memories alive.

I would like to thank our dear Ansen Achen for supporting us at all times, especially when we’d hit the wall in the
process of compiling this magazine. His motivation, guidance and support have been the wheels on which this project
has thrived. Lastly, I would also like to thank our dear writers, who’ve shown an overwhelmingly positive response
through their kind submissions and hard work. For without them, I wouldn’t have been able to piece these beautiful,
      gripping, witty yet humble narratives.

I hope this magazine brings you, our dear readers, a flavour of all seasons. I look forward to your feedback and support
      for our future initiatives.

      Regards,
      Celeste Charles
