FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE
by Miss Nandini Cardozo, Counsellor
Dear Younger Self,
I wonder how you view the world from your perspective. Do you look at it in
colours of black and white or shades of grey or hues of bright colours? I am
intrigued to know as the world you were growing up in is very different from
today.
You did not experience a lock down then and I wonder how it would have been
for you. Would you have crumbled under the strain or would you emerge
stronger from this experience?
You are just a child and the world seems so complex but as you keep reminding
me it is the little things that really matter in the end. As you try to weave your
way through the challenges, I want you to throw your dreams into space like a
kite and you don’t know what it will bring back: a new life, a new friend, a new
love or a new country. Dreams bring us hope for the future they help us look
ahead to what’s new. There is new possibility and opportunity for you to grow
to the best version of yourself.
As I look back I realise it was your belief in your abilities that kept you going
ahead. It was your faith that made you believe in the unseen. The challenges
you faced made you stronger and built your strength.
To you my younger self my companion on this journey of life, I wish to
acknowledge your part in making me who I am today, confident, strong and
mature. I could have not achieved all this without your help and support. Thank
you for drawing out the blue print to help me chart my course in life.
With warm affection,
Your older self
