The County Durham Care Academy is your route to finding a rewarding career in social care.

The Care Academy have supported over 120 people into employment and offers free practical help and support to get you started in your career. All you need are the right values and behaviours and we will help you with the rest.
Alex Hogan, 23 is the 100th recruit to come through the Care Academy after taking part in a fast-track routeway programme Alex said: “I wanted to have a career in care so badly. The Care Academy helped put my mind at rest by providing answers to all of my questions about what working in the sector entails.
“I was a carer for my grandad for a year and talking to the staff made me realise I already had a lot of skills suitable for the role, but now I’ve been able to develop them with their support.”

The Care Academy deliver routeway programmes into both children’s and adult’s social care which will provide you with a solid foundation for accessing a range of opportunities.

Starts on 7 November for six weeks
Delivered every Monday and Tuesday from 9:30am – 3.00pm
The Louisa Centre, Front Street, Stanley, DH9 0TE
This routeway will help develop your knowledge of the responsibilities of adult social care workers, the diverse needs of the people using the services, and other important areas such as safeguarding vulnerable people and dignity in care.
As well as gaining accredited qualifications on subjects such as Level 2 Food Safety, Emergency First Aid and Elements of the Care Certificate, at the end of the programme, you will be guaranteed an interview with a social care provider.
There are no exams during the six week course, just assessments!
